Tom Mark, MA, LCMHC

Tom Mark is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor who specializes in working with children and adolescents with mood disorders, trauma histories and behavioral issues. Engaging both individuals and families, Tom helps people identify their emotions and learn to express themselves appropriately. By teaching behavioral modification techniques, he assists parents in bringing about positive change, guiding families into improved relationships.

Tom understands the challenges some people face entering therapy. By respecting an individual's cultural background and belief system, he has success engaging men and women alike who are apprehensive about counseling. This approach helps people feel more comfortable embracing mental health care for themselves and their families.

Clients appreciate Tom's sense of humor and his supportive manner. With a friendly and direct approach, Tom strives to guide people toward their own resolutions. Taking both a humanistic and cognitive behavioral approach to therapy, he works from the philosophy that many answers lie within ourselves.

Tom graduated from the University of New Hampshire and attended Antioch New England Graduate School where he earned his Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. Prior to joining Capital Valley, he worked in residential treatment, community mental health and a hospital setting, treating a variety of major mental health issues.

Tom's office hours are Monday through Friday.
